Introduction:

NEAR Protocol is a layer-one blockchain that was designed as a community-run cloud computing platform and that eliminates some of the limitations that have been bogging competing blockchains, such as low transaction speeds, low throughput and poor interoperability.

This provides the ideal environment for DApps and creates a developer and user-friendly platform. For instance, NEAR uses human-readable account names, unlike the cryptographic wallet addresses common to Ethereum.

NEAR also introduces unique solutions to scaling problems and has its own consensus mechanism called “Doomslug.”

Methodology:

In this dashboard, we will look at the following things:

• Total swap volume, number of swaps and swappers on Near Protocol vs swap volume, number of swaps and swappers for $NEAR.
• Near swap outflow (Near amount, USD amount, number of swaps and number of swappers) by token
• Near swap outflow and inflow activity
• Top 5 tokens for Near outflow
• Near swap outflow by platform

The default period for all analysis is 365 days and periodicity is weekly which can be changed from the period and granularity parameters in the top left (Login required)

Near swap outflow vs total swaps on Near

• Over the past 365 days, 31.4K swappers have made ~1.13M swaps on Near resulting in a swap volume of ~ 741M USD.
• For Near swap outflows, the numbers are 9.65 swappers, 428K swaps and 346M USD volume making up 30.8%, 37.8% and 46.6% share of the total activity respectively.

Near Swap Outflow By Token

• USDT and USDC are the most dominant tokens for near swap outflows by near volume, USD volume as well as number of swaps.
• For number of swappers, USDT continues to be the most dominant token. However USDC doesn’t even appear in the top 10.

Near Swap Outflow vs Inflow:

• In terms of Near amount and number of swaps, the peak activity for both outflows and inflows was observed in the week starting 13th June 2022.
• In terms of USD amount, the peak activity for both outflows and inflows was observed in the week starting 9th May 2022.
• The number of swappers have reduced exponentially since March 2022.

• Top 5 tokens for Near outflow

• USDT is the most dominant token for near swap outflow in terms of all the metrics.
• In terms of number of swaps, Near volume and USD volume, DAI had a good share but its share has reduced significantly after 21st February 2022.
• The same has been taken up by USDC which is now the 2nd most dominant token behind USDT.

• Near swap outflow by platform

• 100% of the near swaps outflow was happening on Ref Finance till 14th February 2022.
• Jumbo exchange launched in the week starting 14th February 2022 but has not been able to get much market share.

Summary of Findings:
