Sushi vs Uni on L2

    Introduction :

In this analysis, I will examine the following in UniSwap and SushiSwap platforms. The analyzes presented will be on three layers 2 Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon chains.

    Method :

I used sushi.ez_swaps tables on all 3 chains for easy calculation of Sushiswap swaps activity on them. and I used 0xe592427a0aece92de3edee1f18e0157c05861564 address for extracting Uniswap data on all 3 chains.

    • The number of swaps in the Polygon network is more than the number of swaps on the Arbitrum and Optimizm networks. Therefore, it can be said that based on this metric, SushiSwap on Polygon is more popular than the other two networks.
    • The number of swappers on the Polygon network is more than the other two networks.
    • The dollar volume of swaps also reached 3.8 billion dollars in the Polygon network, which was much higher compared to 1.9 billion dollars on the Arbitrum network and about 1.6 million dollars on the Optimism network.
    • The average volume swapped on Arbitrum is higher than the average volume swapped on the Polygon network.
    • The maximum amount swapped on the Polygon network reaches 2.5 million dollars, which is more than the other two networks by a large margin.

    • 35% of swaps on the Sushiswap platform on the Optimism network were related to swaps with a value of less than $5. Also, about 40% of users have swapped less than 5 dollars on the SushiSwap network. It seems that a large percentage of users have been active on the Sushi Swap platform with the intention of airdropping the Optimism network.
    • 24% of the swaps on the Sushiswap platform on the Arbitrum network were related to swaps worth more than $100,000! And about 26% of all Sushi Swap users on Arbitrum have made swaps worth more than $100,000.
    • 33% of the swaps on the Sushiswap platform on the Polygon network were related to swaps worth more than $100,000! And about 31% of all Sushi Swap users on Polygon have made swaps worth more than $100,000.

    • According to the data available in the flipsidecrypto database, swaps on the Arbitrum and Optimism networks will start from April 18, 2022 onwards, and as we can see, the number of swaps on the Arbitrum network is increasing week by week, and the number of swaps on Polygon is increasing. There has been a decrease, indicating that Sushi Swap has become more popular on Arbitrum than Polygon over time. According to the graph on the left, the number of users has followed the same trend.
    • The volume of swaps on the Arbitrum network has also increased over time than the Polygon network, although the cumulative volume of swaps on Polygon is ahead of Arbitrum by a large difference.

    • The weekly average volume of swaps has reached its peak in the last two weeks of April and the first week of May on the Arbitrum network, and in recent weeks, the average weekly volume of swaps on Arbitrum has been higher than the other two networks.

    • As we can see, the USDC-WETH pool is more popular than other pools on SushiSwap in terms of the number of users, the number of swaps, and the volume of swaps in all three networks.

    • As we can see in the graph on the left, the number of swaps on UniSwap platform on Optimism network is more than Polygon and Arbitrum network, and the total number of UniSwap users on Optimism network is also more than the other two networks. But as the graph on the right shows, the number of uniswap pools on the Polygon network is more than the other two networks.

    Conculsion :

From the above analysis, we get the following results:

    • Polygon has the most total number of swaps, swappers, and also the volume of swaps on Sushiswap. but the result on Uniswap is totally different the number of swaps on UniSwap platform on Optimism network is more than Polygon and Arbitrum network, and the total number of UniSwap users on Optimism network is also more than the other two networks.

    • the number of swaps on the Arbitrum network is increasing week by week, and the number of swaps on Polygon is increasing. There has been a decrease, indicating that SushiSwap has become more popular on Arbitrum than Polygon over time. But on Uniswap the number of swaps on the Optimism network has exceeded that of Polygon over time, and in recent weeks, the number of swaps on Arbitrum has been on the rise.

    • Optimism has very low activity on Sushiswap and this chain can not be compared to Arbitrum and Polygon at all. But on Uniswap, Polygon has low activity compare to other chains.

    • USDC/WETH is also the most popular pair on Sushiswap and Uniswap in all chains.

    • Since the total number of swaps on Optimism and Polygon networks are almost close to each other, we can see the same trend in the weekly graph of swaps. Of course, as we can see, the number of swaps on the Optimism network has exceeded that of Polygon over time, and in recent weeks, the number of swaps on Arbitrum has been on the rise. Although the number of swappers on Optimism was more than the other two networks in the early weeks, in recent weeks the number of swappers on Arbitrum has increased more than the other two networks.
