In this dashboard, we'll look into how frequent are blocks missed. We'll also zoom in onto one validator.

    Defining validator churn

    1. One of the biggest risk to run a node as validator is getting your stake slashed. There are a few ways to get slashed but the major ones are: double signing a transaction, unable to be reached and missing oracle votes.
    2. In this dashboard, I'll look into how many times a validator has missed blocks - whether that be because they are unable to be reached or if they have missed oracle votes.
    3. In terra.transitions, this is categorized under 'missed blocks'

In the past 6 months, there are about 2.3million blocks

Assuming all the validators participate in all blocks, validator 'block42' has missed 3.5% of the blocks followed by 3% by 'KING'

Overall, the range of blocks missed seems to be between 0 and 1% with a few anomalies up to 3%

    1. Although it is not ideal to have missed blocks, it is assuring that the range seems to be consistent in the past 6 months and is less than 1%

If we look at number of times a validator got slashed, 'KING' validator got slashed 6 times in the past 6 months

    1. Given how this validator has also missed 69.5k blocks, it would be interesting to see how this has affected the amount of luna delegated to this validator, given that their performance is not great
    2. Apart from this validator, it seems like the number of times slashing occurring is quite rare. Among the top 10 slashed validator, we see a lot of 2 and 1 time occurrences.

"KING"'s high blocks missed and slashing events is correlated to the decreasing amount of Luna delegated to this validator

    1. We see that it started at 250k Luna in March but has since dropped to only 20k Luna after 6 months

    Conclusion:

    1. The percentage of blocks missed by validators in the past 6 months is at a consistent range between 0 to 1%. Although missing blocks is not ideal, it is assuring to know that it has been consistent and likely will not see higher percentages.
    2. The number of slashing is also quite low seeing how in the top 10 most slashed validators, there are quite a few of 2 and 1 time occurrences, with the most going to the 'KING' validator.
    3. When we looked at this validator's voting power, we can see it has gone done drastically, which is correlated to the high number of blocks missed and getting slashed.
