    Preamble
    Methodology

This dashboard examines the Pangolin DEX built on Avalanche and is separated into four sections giving an overall summary of the activity on the Pangolin DEX, insights into it's liquidity pools, the swap activity on the DEX, and the activity that goes on with it's token PNG.

The dashboard contains no language to describe any of the metrics to avoid dating the dashboard, as it is intended to be reusable and monitored in the future.

    Metrics

    Summary

The summary tab displays metrics of the entire protocol's volume, revenue, fees as well as giving a summary of the usage of each of the contracts that the protocol employs with their token and DEX.

    Liquidity Pools

The liquidity pool tab displays metrics of the usage of the liquidity pools available on the DEX:

    • Total metrics on number of actions & users adding & removing to liquidity pools
    • Distribution metrics on number of actions & users adding & removing to liquidity pools by pool
    • Weekly metrics on number of actions & users adding & removing to liquidity pools

    Swaps

The swaps tab displays metrics of the activity of the DEX users swapping their token for other tokens

    • Total metrics on number of swaps & users swapping
    • Distribution metrics on number of swaps & and users by liquidity pool
    • Weekly metrics on number of swaps & users swapping

    PNG Token

The PNG token tab displays metrics of the activity of users transfering the PNG token around the protocol

    Data Collection

This dashboard makes use of the newly released Avalanche data tables fact_decoded_event_logs and ez_decoded_event_logs, predominantly the latter as it is a more digestible table. As this dashboard is about the Pangolin DEX, these tables were explored to find any contracts listed as being associated with the Pangolin DEX. Two contracts were found, the Pangolin contracts and the Pangolin Liquidity contract. This data is shown in a table below.

    PNG Token

Judging by the decoded logs, the event names, and some exploring on snowtrace, an Avalanche block explorer, it was determined that the Pangolin contract is contract associated with the Pangolin token, PNG, and it's activity is determined from the data recored with this contract.

    • This dashboard examines the PNG token transfer activity by filtering the contract data by it's event name recorded as 'Transfer'.

    Liquidity Pools & Swaps

By the same methods, it was determined that the Pangolin Liquidity contract associated with the Pangolin DEX. This dashboard segregates it's analysis into different categories according to the recorded event name, and with some more exploring on snowtrace, the different event names were discerned:

    • Data with the event name 'Swap' is a swap from one token to another taken place on the Pangolin DEX
    • Data with the event name 'Mint' is where one or two tokens are being added to a liquidity pool on the Pangolin DEX
    • Data with the event name 'Burn' is where one or two tokens are being removed from a liquidty pool on the Pangolin DEX

The gathered data on the Pangolin Liquidity contract also has imputed values to discern which contracts are which liquidity pools. The imputed values are gathered from an analytics page from Pangolin (https://info.pangolin.exchange/#/pairs) where the pair contract address is listed with each pair on the website. For this dashboard the top 15 pairs ordered by most liquidity are imputed to the data table according to the pair name, and the rest are imputed as 'other'. The result of this is when examining liquidity pool and swaps, it is more easily understandable as you can identify which pools are being utilised by their pair name.

    Summary

It was extremely difficult to accurately discern values/volumes associated with each action in these data tables, such as different number of decimals on each value etc. so metrics on volumes were left out as to avoid misleading numbers. But, some overall volume data has been provided in the summary tab which the data is taken from the external.defillama.fact_dex_volume and external.defillama.fact_protocol_fees_revenue tables.

    Pangolin DEX

Pangolin is a decentralized digital assets exchange (DEX) that operates across multiple chains. By utilizing advanced technology and providing deep liquidity and a user-friendly interface, Pangolin enables seamless trading and offers valuable tools for both traders and projects. In February 2021, Pangolin was launched on the Avalanche Network (C-Chain) as an automated market maker (AMM), resulting in over $15 billion in trading volume during its first year. With an eye towards the future, Pangolin is expanding its presence by deploying on other networks such as Hedera, Flare, EVMOS, and Near Protocol. The ultimate goal is to create a chain-agnostic ecosystem, allowing users to effortlessly navigate between different chains with just a few clicks. Pangolin aims to be at the forefront of this movement, building a community that will help drive the industry forward.
